I’ve had reviews. I’ve written reviews. I’ve even been trained in reviews. What I’ve never done is say to a room (or website) full of others: what do you appreciate in an academic review? This is an attempt to rectify that. Given that a reviewer is usually unpaid and should certainly not rewrite your paper for you, what have you found rightly or wrongly helpful, motivating, crushing?
